He entered the Order of Friars Servants of Mary and dedicated His Life helping Sick and Needy. He was an Observer of the Rules and imposed on himself Penances, one of the special Penances he chose was standing without sitting. This penance caused him medical issues to his right leg which later developped in a cancer. the local surgeon decided his leg would have be amputate. The tradition says that the night before the surgery, Peregrine spent much time in prayer before the crucified Jesus, asking God to heal him. When the Saint came back to his bed, falling asleep, dreamt of Jesus leaving his Cross and touching his cancerous leg. When Peregrine awoke, his leg was miraculously cured. He died at the age of 80.
